Mario Diaz-Balart: U.S. Should Tough Actions in Response to Cuban Election Interference

From his perch as the chairman of the Subcommittee on the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs of the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations, last week, U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart denounced the Cuban regime’s interference in U.S. elections.

Recent media reports have shed light on Cuba’s efforts to influence American elections.

“Once again, the Cuban regime’s aggressive, anti-American activities underscore the pervasive threat posed to U.S. national security. The intelligence community’s report on the Cuban dictatorship’s interference in U.S. elections should provide a much-needed wake-up call to the Biden administration to stop any further appeasement in the form of unilateral concessions,” said Diaz-Balart.

The South Florida congressman called for tougher actions against the Cuban regime.

“Now is the time to impose tough consequences, including tighter sanctions, on the malevolent dictatorship that seeks to damage our democracy,” Diaz-Balart said.
