Mike Pompeo Gets Active in Florida, Backs Bill Posey for Another Term in Congress

Former U.S. Sec. of State Mike Pompeo, a possible presidential candidate in 2024, got active in Florida this week, throwing his support behind U.S. Rep. Bill Posey’s, R-Fla., reelection bid.

“Bill has a record of getting results and fighting for our America First priorities. He is exactly who the country needs right now to get back on the right track and hold the Biden Administration accountable for their failed policies and lack of transparent leadership. We need more leaders like Bill who aren’t afraid to hold government accountable, stand up to Communist China and unleash American energy. I’m proud to endorse him,” Pompeo said on Thursday.

“I am grateful to my friend, Secretary Pompeo, for his support,” said Posey. “While serving in Congress together, Secretary Pompeo and I fought for our shared conservative values and while he served in the Trump administration, I worked alongside him to stand up to China and put America first. Now, I’m honored to have his endorsement to continue that important work and get America back on track.”

While redistricting will impact his current district, which is strongly Republican, Posey is not considered a top target for Democrats in November.

Democrats Danelle Dodge, Dena Grayson, Perry Gregg and Joanne Terry have lined up to run against Posey. Patrick Wells is running against Posey in the Republican primary.
