“Where’s Monique Miller?” That’s the question candidates are asking in the Republican Primary Race for Florida House District 33.
Over the last few weeks, Florida Daily has reported on Miller’s campaign taking money from groups that opposed Governor Ron DeSantis’ agenda in the area of property insurance reform. Voters and other candidates are also wondering what Miller knew about her husband’s involvement in a Palm Bay corruption case that was investigated by the FBI and the FDLE. It led to arrests on charges of bribery, racketeering and conspiracy to commit extortion.
Miller’s Husband, Greg Lynk, was the city manager at the time when the investigation took place. It centered around taxpayer funds that were stolen that were supposed to be used as grants to benefits local veterans.
One of those arrested was former Deputy City Manager of Palm Bay, Dave Isnardi, who Lynk hired. Isnardi pleaded guilty to a felony.
Those running against Miller have questioned her husband’s involvement in the corruption case.
“She’s been a no-show at these forums,” said Miller’s GOP primary opponent Mike Limongello.
“She is hiding,” Limongello said. “She won’t answer about her campaign taking money from liberal groups that opposed Gov. DeSantis and conservative measures, and she has refused to answer what she did or didn’t know about the Palm Bay scandal.”
Pollsters have told Florida Daily the race is between Limongello and Miller. The other two in the race have no traction.
At a recent Space Coast Political Hobnob that included over a dozen of business groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, Miller squeaked out a victory over Limongello by just four points, when many expected Miller to win by a much wider margin.
Limongello said he is ready to just debate Miller one on one, but her campaign refuses to answer. Miller also did not participate in NBC WESH 2 News’ debate, which was held back on July 16th.
