A new poll by the Center Square shows Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would be in the running for the GOP primary in 2028.
But even at third, DeSantis trails Vice President JD Vance and Donald Trump Jr.
The poll took responses from republican and independent voters. The top choice for GOP voters was VP Vance, with 38%, followed by Trump Jr. at 26%, and then Gov. DeSantis at 6%.
Most Independent voters liked Vance also. 41% said they would support the Vice President. Trump Jr. was also picked by independents, garnering 13%.
The poll shows Vance is more popular among female voters than males. The VP performs well with GOP and female independents, but not with males, at 40% and 36%, respectively.
Among these groups, the black and Hispanic, Trump Jr. outperforms Vance. 23% of Black voters prefer Trump Jr. over Vance, who received 21%. Nineteen percent of Hispanics support Trump Jr, to 18% who like Vance.
Younger voters rally more behind Trump Jr.. Forty percent of those polled were between the ages of 18 and 44. Trump Jr. was also favored more than Vance among male voters who earned over $100,000 a year.
How do GOP voters in certain parts of the country view GOP candidates? The poll found that VP Vance was the top choice in the Midwest, South, and West regions. Trump Jr. had better numbers than Vance in the Northeast, at 38% support to Vance’s 31%.

DeSantis held 6% support, followed by Sec of State Marco Rubio at 4%. Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley at 3%. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Glenn Youngkin and Tom Cotton polled lowest. 15% of those polled said they weren’t sure who they’d vote for.
