Neal Dunn, Gus Bilirakis Champion the Connecting Communities Post Disasters Act

This week, U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn, R-Fla., brought back a proposal “that would accelerate replacing and improving communications facilities in presidentially-declared disaster areas.”

Dunn introduced the “Connecting Communities Post Disasters Act” with U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., as a co-sponsor.

“There are few things worse than being unable to check on loved ones following a disaster. One of my biggest takeaways from Hurricane Michael is that burdensome regulations stand in the way of rebuilding our communities,” said Dunn. “The Connecting Communities Post Disaster Act simplifies the rebuilding process so we can quickly get our communities back on their feet and back to a sense of normalcy.”

Dunn’s bill was sent to the U.S. House Energy and Commerce and the Natural Resources Committees.

So far, there is no companion measure over in the U.S. Senate and Bilirakis is the only House co-sponsor.
