ORLANDO – Nemours Children’s Health has announced a $300 million investment in Central Florida over the next four years to meet the growing demand for pediatric care.
“This initiative is a transformative step toward providing nationally ranked children’s care in Florida,” said R. Lawrence Moss, MD, President and CEO of Nemours Children’s Health. “With this expansion, we can support more families locally and beyond.”
The investment includes three key components on the Nemours Children’s Hospital Florida campus, with completion expected by 2028:
- Hospital Expansion: A 110,000-square-foot addition will double the Emergency Department’s size, expand the Imaging Department, and provide new inpatient beds.
- Surgery and Care Center: A new 75,000-square-foot building will feature an expanded surgery center with six new operating rooms and will support Nemours’ orthopedics division, including the state’s only accredited International Center for Limb Lengthening.
- Administrative and Parking Facilities: A 75,000-square-foot administrative building and an 800-space parking garage are planned for completion in 2027.
“Nemours has been a trusted provider of pediatric care in the Delaware Valley, and this investment underscores our commitment to Central Florida,” said Martha McGill, President of the Central Florida Region for Nemours. “This expansion allows us to better serve children with complex medical needs.”
Florida’s growing pediatric population—approximately 1 million in Central Florida—is projected to increase by nearly 5% in the next five years, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced services. Nemours currently supports over 300,000 children and teens statewide.
“The health of any community begins with its children,” Dr. Moss emphasized. “These investments are key to ensuring exceptional care and improved outcomes for our patients and their families.”
Nemours Children’s Health is harnessing its strong financial position to make these vital investments, continuing the legacy of Alfred I. duPont in advancing pediatric health and well-being across its multistate health system.
