A recent poll conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy, Inc. out of Jacksonville focused on four key areas where voters will decide on this year’s November ballot.
The U.S. Presidential race, the U.S. Senate race, and Amendments 3 and 4 deal with abortion and marijuana, respectively.
The Presidential Race: Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris:
Among Floridians Former President Trump leads Vice President Harris by 6 points, 49%-43%, with 6% undecided.
Among the regions, North Florida supports Trump over Harris, 59%-34%, with 7% undecided. In Central Florida, Trump leads Harris 53%-42, and 5% undecided.
In Tampa Bay, Trump leads Harris 48%-42%, with 6% undecided.
Southwest Florida is where the former president had a wider margin over Harris, earning 60% of the vote to her 35%.
Harris’ strength is in the Southeast part of the Sunshine State, where she led Trump 53%-36%.
When the results were analyzed by voter race, 56% of white voters supported Trump, 37% supported Harris, and others were undecided or supporting the 3rd party.
Among Black voters, Trump’s support is essentially identical to what it was in 2020, with 12% supporting him and 78% supporting Harris.
According to the poll data, Trump has an edge among the Hispanic community. He leads Harris 47%-42%, with 5% for other candidates and 6% undecided.
Florida’s U.S. Senate Race
Incumbent Rick Scott leads Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, 48%-41%, with 2% to other candidates, and 9% undecided.
Amendment 3 Marijuana Legalization Initiative.
This one falls short of the 60% needed to pass. 58% of voters support the amendment, 35% oppose it, and 7% are undecided.
By political party, 72% of Democrats support the amendment, almost half of Republicans (49%) support it, and 54% of Independents support its passage.
Amendment 4 Abortion Amendment:
According to the poll, this one barely passed with 61% support, 33% opposing, 6% undecided.
89% of Democrats back the amendment, 55% of GOP voters oppose it and 59% of Independents favor it.
This poll was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy, Inc. of Jacksonville, Florida, from October 1 through October 4, 2024. A total of 625 registered voters statewide were interviewed live by telephone. The margin of error is no more than ± four percentage points.
