The new state budget of $117.6 billion was signed by Governor DeSantis.
Some of the highlights include:
$735 million to pay down state debt.
Florida’s total reserves now sit just below $18 billion, along with $5 billion in the state’s Rainy-Day Fund.
Education.
$1.56 billion to be used to provide salary increases to full-time K-12 classroom and PreK teachers with at least 10 years of full-time teaching experience in a Florida public school.
$9,338 in per-student funding.
Environment and Natural Resources.
More than $300 million to support local water projects. This includes the construction, upgrade and expansion of wastewater facilities, septic to sewer conversions, stormwater management and nutrient reduction projects.
$30 million for water quality improvement projects through water management districts. $50 million for springs restoration.
Transportation, Infrastructure and Emergency Management.
Nearly $16 billion to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), including $14.4 billion for the State Transportation Work Program.
$172 million to support local transportation projects.
