New Study Ranks Florida’s Deadliest Roads

New research from personal law firm Amanda Demanda Injury Lawyers (Miami Personal Injury Attorney) reveals the deadliest roads in the entire State of Florida after analyzing over 15,000 crashes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) over the course of five years.

The research found that the US Route 1, which crosses Florida North to South for 543 miles through major cities like Miami and Jacksonville, has seen 677 fatalities between 2018 and 2022.

Interstate 95 ranked second, with 592 fatalities in the same amount of time, followed by US Route 41, with 519 deaths. Other details showed the highest rate of fatalities per road mile is the I-4, with 1.6 deaths for every mile of the interstate’s 132-mile Florida stretch.

Accidents on Interstate 10 damaged over a thousand vehicles over the course of five years. Despite being the longest road at 670 miles crossing the Sunshine State, US road 98 has less than half as many fatalities as the I-10, with only 317 dead.

The data collected analyzed over 180,000 in the USA from the NHTSA Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and narrowed it down to fatal accidents on Florida roadways.

“According to our analysis, over 16,000 people died on Florida roads between 2018 and 2022. Each person that dies or gets hurt on the road is one too many. We encourage the Florida Department of Transportation to take initiative, like the #EndTheStreak campaign in Texas that aims to inform drivers about the risks we take everyday by getting on the road,” said Demanda.

The data was collected from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System for the years 2018-2022 for every traffic accident that was reported in Florida during that time period.
