Florida Car Owners Underwater With Loans
Edmunds reports that larger states like Florida are seeing an increase among car owners underwater with their automobile loans.
Used car prices have been dropping over the last few months since COVID-19. One problem is that consumers who bought their vehicles at higher prices now owe more than the car is worth.
Analysts at Edmunds said consumers most vulnerable on their auto loans are those who purchased new vehicles for above sticker price because those newer trade-ins are seeing the steepest decreases in value.
Florida Retailers Positive About 2024
The Florida Retail Federation (FRF) foresees stronger consumer spending this year. The National Retail Federation believes retailers will see sales increase by 3. FRF data shows Floridians are spending despite higher prices not ticking downwards.
Gambling
A suit against the Seminole Tribe was shot down by the Florida Supreme Court. It centered around sports betting and whether it should be allowed on mobile devices. Florida has an agreement with the Seminole Tribe. The challenge came from West Flagler Associates and the Bonita Springs Poker Room, who argued that sports betting measures should be approved by voters, not the state or any legislative decisions.
