Poll Shows Majority Consider Biden & Trump Mentally Unfit for Presidency

In the same month that a majority of polled voters said that Presidents Joe Biden and Donald Trump are too old to serve another term, a poll published this week revealed a majority of voters saying that both men are mentally unfit for office.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll published Wednesday, Sixty-four percent of respondents in the poll said Biden was mentally unfit for another term, and 51% said Trump was mentally unfit. The same poll showed Biden leading Trump by 4 points, within the margin of error. Separately, an Economist/YouGov poll also published Wednesday showed Biden a point behind Trump.

Republican Presidential Primary candidate Nikki Haley, who served as Ambassador to the United Nations in Trump’s administration, has used both men’s age and mental gaffes against them. Earlier this week, Haley said her former boss, has become more unhinged in the past years. At the start of Haley’s campaign last year, the former South Carolina governor called for mental competency test for elderly candidates, but at that point of her campaign, she resisted criticizing Trump directly.
