With the 2024 Presidential Election less than six months away, a recent poll shows that most Americans (52%) prefer a candidate who supports mass deportation vs. a candidate who favors amnesty. Thirty-Six percent of voters polled favored amnesty, and 12% undecided.
Other notable stats from the poll include:
- 41% would support legislation to grant amnesty to illegal aliens and allow them to become permanent U.S. residents, including 17% who “strongly support” amnesty.
- 53% would oppose amnesty for illegal aliens, including 41% who “strongly oppose” it.
The polling data came from the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey of 1,072 “likely voters.” An excerpt from Rasmussen’s summary report reads:
“On NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio defended his support for former President Donald Trump’s policy of mass deportation. Given a choice between candidates favoring amnesty or deportation, 75% of Republican voters would choose the candidate who favored deporting all illegal immigrants, as would 34% of Democrats and 50% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Fifty-six percent (56%) of Democrats would vote for the candidate who favored amnesty for illegal aliens, as would 18% of Republicans and 34% of unaffiliated voters.”
The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
