A group seeking to stop a pro-abortion initiative on this year’s Florida ballot says the proponents of Amendment 4 are trying to trick the public with dishonest rhetoric.
The group, named Vote No on 4, has released a new ad highlighting “Tricked,” which they say is to inform voters that their tax dollars could be funneled to subsidize elective abortions if Amendment 4 passes.
“The extreme groups bankrolling Amendment 4 are desperate to hide this consequence because they know that even Floridians who consider themselves pro-choice oppose forcing taxpayers to fund elective abortion,” said Voter No on 4.
Opponents of Amendment 4 claim liberal organizations like the ACLU help write Amendment 4 with intentionally vague language, to trick people into voting for policies that are far more radical than most Floridians support.
“Our goal is to explain to voters the deceptive nature of those behind the pro-choice amendment,” the group told Florida Daily.
The ad points out the amendment would open the door to taxpayer funding of abortions. Vote No on 4 has been reaching out to church audiences to get the word out and motivate their members to oppose the amendment.
Church groups have been knocking on doors in local communities telling voters their tax dollars will be forced to pay for elective abortions, even on minors whose parents do not consent.
Also, it would permit elective abortions throughout all nine months of pregnancy, even if there are no health concerns for the mother or baby.
Permit non-physicians to determine when and if an abortion can be performed, even in late pregnancy when the health risks to the mother can be very serious.
Remove common-sense maternal health and safety regulations. Eliminate parental consent for minors.
“Amendment 4 is not what it seems. It’s far too extreme for Florida. We believe voters deserve the truth, and we will continue to shine a light on the radical agenda behind Amendment 4 so that Floridians have the facts to make the right decision,” said Vote No on 4.
