Report – Florida Among Top 5 Most Environmentally-Friendly States

report by Forbes Home revealed that Florida ranks #5, among the most sustainable states in the country. In an effort to highlight each state’s environmental contributions, Forbes Home’s State by State Sustainability Index outlined the most and least environmentally friendly states by analyzing solar friendliness, energy use, water use and more.

According to the report, Florida earned the #5 ranking due to the following factors:

  • Florida has the seventh lowest energy usage per capita in the U.S, using less than 198 BTU/year
  • Florida ranks #15 for the lowest water usage of all states, using a little over 710 gallons per day, per capita
  • Over 5% of the state’s energy is run on solar
  • Florida also ranks #7 for solar friendliness
