Report Ranks Miami Among Nation’s Most Expensive Cities for Single Family Rentals

According to South Florida Agent Magazine and recent statistics from Rentometer.com’s 2024 Single-Family Rentals Report, Miami ranks tenth overall among the most expensive cities for single-family rents in the nation.

Rentometer analyzed rental trends across 857 cities and focusing on three-bedroom, single-family homes. The report provides insights into rent prices, growth trends, and regional variations. Eight of the other top ten cities were in California, and Boston finished in sixth place. Boston and Miami had average rents of $4,161 and $3,996, respectively.

San Francisco remains the most expensive market for single-family rentals among U.S. cities with populations over 250,000, with an average rent of $5,265 for a 3-bedroom house in 2024. Note that single-family rentals in New York City are not tracked by Rentometer.

Following closely behind are Los Angeles and Irvine, with average rents of $5,082 and $5,079, respectively. San Diego also stands out, with average rents at $4,618.

In Rentometer’s rankings of the list of the 15 Smaller Cities See Average Rents Exceed $6,000, the city of Miami Beach was the only non-California city in the top 10, with an average rent of $6,567.
