On Tuesday. Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that CVS Health will begin offering COVID-19 vaccinations at 81 select CVS Pharmacy, CVS Pharmacy y más, and Navarro Discount Pharmacy locations in 13 counties across Florida with the majority of them–67–in Miami-Dade County.
DeSantis made this announcement at a Navarro Discount Pharmacy location in Hialeah where he was joined by CVS Health Regional Director Ahmed Velez.
“I’m pleased to join CVS Health today to announce 81 additional COVID-19 vaccination sites across our state, including 67 in Miami-Dade County,” said DeSantis. “These sites at select CVS Health locations will build on the progress we’ve made at existing retail sites and significantly increase access to the vaccine for our seniors.”
Vaccine supply for the rollout in Florida, which is sourced directly from the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, will be approximately 62,000 total weekly doses.
Participating CVS Pharmacy, CVS Pharmacy y más, and Navarro Discount Pharmacy locations are in the following counties:
- Broward (2)
- Collier (1)
- Escambia (1)
- Flagler (1)
- Hendry (1)
- Gadsden (1)
- Hillsborough (1)
- Manatee (1)
- Miami-Dade (67)
- Palm Beach (1)
- Polk (2)
- St. Lucie (1)
- Volusia (1).
The 67 sites in Miami-Dade County include every single one of the 31 Navarro Discount Pharmacies in Miami-Dade County and every single one of the 35 CVS y más stores in Miami-Dade County, as well as one traditional CVS Pharmacy location.
“One of our greatest strengths as a company is our presence in communities across the country, which makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient, and inclusive manner,” said Velez. “We look forward to continuing to work with the state to defeat the virus and deliver on our shared commitment to increase access to the vaccine for underserved communities, in particular Florida’s Black and Hispanic populations.”
Appointments for vaccinations at the select CVS Health locations will become available for booking later this week as stores receive shipments of vaccine. Patients must register in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app, and people without online access can contact CVS customer service: (800) 746-7287. Walk-in vaccinations without an appointment will not be provided.
As more supply becomes available, CVS Health will expand vaccine access through an increasing number of store locations in additional Florida counties.
