Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of three judges. Below is a list of the judges and an overview of their legal background as provided from DeSantis’ office:
Branden Henderson, of Odessa, to serve as Judge on the Hillsborough County Court
Henderson has worked as Counsel at First American Law Group since 2020. Previously, he was an Attorney at Weller Legal Group. He earned his bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and his juris doctor from Ave Maria School of Law. Henderson fills the judicial vacancy created by the enactment of HB 5401.
Colleen O’Brien, of Tampa, to serve as Judge on the Hillsborough County Court
O’Brien has served as the General Counsel for the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office since 2022. Previously, she served as an Assistant General Counsel at the Florida Department of State. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and her juris doctor from Stetson University. O’Brien fills the judicial vacancy created by the enactment of HB 5401.
Steven Miller, of Ocoee, to serve as Judge on the Orange County Court
Miller has served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit since 2021. Previously, he served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and his juris doctor from Florida A&M University. Miller fills the judicial vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Jewett.
