Ron DeSantis Backs Trump Executive Order on College Sports Reform

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis voiced support for an executive order issued by Donald Trump aimed at preserving and reforming college athletics nationwide.

The order is part of a broader effort to establish clearer guidelines for college sports programs and address ongoing concerns about the structure and future of collegiate athletics, including protections for student-athletes.

DeSantis called the move “a great first step” toward stabilizing the system, noting his involvement in the president’s Saving College Sports Initiative. He said the executive action signals progress on key issues affecting college athletics.

The governor also urged Congress to take further action, saying lawmakers should work to formalize the proposed changes through legislation.
