Ron DeSantis Continues to Excel in the Polls After First Year as Florida Governor

On Tuesday, Pasco County-based St. Leo University released a poll of Florida voters which shows 68 percent of those surveyed approve in DeSantis while only 20 percent disapprove of him and 12 percent are not sure.

A year after he was elected in a close race, Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to do well in the polls.

On Tuesday, Pasco County-based St. Leo University released a poll of Florida voters which shows 68 percent of those surveyed approve in DeSantis while only 20 percent disapprove of him and 12 percent are not sure.

This is up from April when a St. Leo poll found 62 percent of Florida voters approved of DeSantis while 21 percent disapproved of him and 17 percent were not sure.

“Ron DeSantis continues to pace Florida Republicans in terms of approval as he has avoided any major controversies and overseen a positive economic landscape,” said Frank Orlando, the director of the Saint Leo University Polling Institute and a professor of political science.

Orlando added that DeSantis should be able to leverage his popularity for the upcoming legislative session at the start of the new year.

“This extended honeymoon period bodes well for his effectiveness in working with the Florida Legislature this spring,” Orlando said.

The survey of 500 Florida voters was taken from Nov. 13 through Nov. 18 and had a margin of error of +/- 4.5 percent.
