Ron DeSantis, DEO Honor County CareerSource Organizations Helping Veterans

“Veterans across the state contribute valuable skills and experience to enhance Florida’s workforce,” said DeSantis, “I want to congratulate these local workforce development boards for providing employment services to veterans after they have served our country.”

On Monday, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced three local workforce development boards are being recognized with Veterans’ Performance Incentive Awards for their work providing employment and training opportunities to thousands of veterans throughout Florida.

This year’s top performers include CareerSource Central Florida, CareerSource Flagler Volusia and CareerSource Capital Region.

“Veterans across the state contribute valuable skills and experience to enhance Florida’s workforce,” said DeSantis, “I want to congratulate these local workforce development boards for providing employment services to veterans after they have served our country.”

“I am proud to work with individuals who understand the importance of providing exceptional service for veterans,” said Dane Eagle, the new executive director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). “I want to recognize and thank the local workforce development boards for their trailblazer mentality and leadership while helping veterans who have served our county.”

The Jobs for Veterans State Grant provides performance incentive awards to recognize local workforce development boards that provide excellent employment services to veterans. These awards encourage the continued improvement of employment opportunities, job training and job placement services for veterans.

“These local workforce development boards have demonstrated their commitment to helping veterans find meaningful employment through their innovative efforts,” said Casey Penn, the bureau chief of One-Stop and Program Support. “The career center staff deserve this recognition for positively impacting Florida’s veterans and their families.”

“As the daughter of a U.S. Navy veteran, I am grateful to Governor Ron DeSantis for his leadership in ensuring Florida is the most veteran-friendly state in the nation, and to the CareerSource Florida network for helping veterans and their family members start great new careers every day,” said Michelle Dennard, the president and CEO of CareerSource Florida. “We applaud CareerSource Central Florida, CareerSource Flagler Volusia and CareerSource Capital Region for your recognition as top performers in your service to those who serve our country.”

The Veterans Performance Incentive is awarded based off three categories by local workforce development area sizes: large, medium and small. Representatives from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Services reviewed and selected the following Local Workforce Development Board Veterans’ Incentive Award winners:

  • Large category:        CareerSource Central Florida (LWDB – 12)
  • Medium category:     CareerSource Flagler Volusia (LWDB – 11)
  • Small category:         CareerSource Capital Region (LWDB – 5)
