Ron DeSantis, Donald Trump Ahead of Joe Biden in Florida for 2024, Poll Shows

A new poll from Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Business and Economics Polling Institute (BEPI) has former President Donald Trump ahead of President Joe Biden in electoral-rich Florida if they have a rematch in 2024–but Gov. Ron DeSantis is doing better against the incumbent.

Trump took Florida over Biden in the 2020 election. FAU polled a possible rematch which shows Trump with 45.1 percent while Biden takes 41.4 percent. Other candidates command the support of 10.7 percent while 2.7 percent are undecided.

DeSantis does better than Trump against Biden in the poll. DeSantis gets 48.1 percent with Biden taking 41.8 percent. Only 5.4 percent back other candidates in this scenario while 4.7 percent are undecided.

Asked how the FBI search of Trump’s property on Mar-a-Lago impacts their plans to vote in 2024, 32.6 percent said it makes them more likely to vote for Trump while 34 percent say it makes them less likely to vote for him and 33.4 percent says it makes no difference.

The poll of 719 registered voters in Florida who indicated at least some likeliness to vote in November was taken from Oct. 12 through Oct. 16 and had a margin of error of +/- 3.65 percent.
