On multiple occasions, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis emphasized that he has no interest in the role of Vice President for a potential second term of Donald Trump, but a new poll finds that 41% of Republicans and 40% of Independents who lean Republican support Gov. DeSantis as being Trump’s VP pick for 2024.
The Economist/YouGov poll also found that 27% of the same crowd support Florida U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio as the VP pick.

2024 Presidential Election:
Neither candidate came close to 50 percent, and the result is a tie, with Trump and Biden both at 42% and the remaining undecided or considering a third-party candidate.
Trump’s Hush Money Trial Conviction: Those numbers have barely changed, with 51% of Americans, including 89% of Democrats and 12% of Republicans, strongly or somewhat approving of the guilty verdict in Trump’s hush-money trial.
Rigged Trial: 49% said they do not believe Trump’s hush money trial was rigged, while 38% believe it was.
Immigration is a bigger topic among Republican voters than inflation.
- 34% said immigration was their number one issue.
- 24% said inflation cost.
Closing The Border:
56% of voters said yes if illegal entries exceeded more than 2,500 per day. The poll found some support for a compromise between both parties on the issue but not by much. 36% said they should find a bipartisan solution, and 33% opposed it. Fourty-five percent of Biden supporters supported a compromise, with 35% of Trump supporters favoring one as well.
Economy:
- 54% think the economy is getting worse.
- 29% of Americans think the number of jobs in the country is decreasing.
- 39% think the U.S. economy is shrinking.
- 85% of Trump supporters believe the economy is getting worse and 71% say their family’s economic situation is worse than a year ago.
