While she might have lost out to U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Ct., in the contest to be the chairwoman of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., will continue to head up a high profile subcommittee.
Naming Democrats to the committee and its various subcommittees, DeLauro announced this week that she is keeping Wasserman Schultz as chairwoman of the U.S. House Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee.
“The Appropriations Committee is at the center of the 117th Congress’ work to give every American a better chance at a better life, and I can think of no better group than our excellent Committee members to lead the way,” DeLauro said. “With the leadership of our cardinals and Vice Chair and the expertise of our distinguished committee members, we are ready to get to work for the American people.”
Wasserman Schultz will also serve on the U.S. House Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee; and the U.S. House Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee.
U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., is also staying on the Appropriations Committee and will serve on the U.S. House Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee; the U.S. House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee; and the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee;
U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., also remains on the Appropriations Committee and will be on the Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee; the U.S. House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee; and the U.S. House State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Subcommittee.
