Rubio Pushes to Override Biden Veto, Block Chinese-Made Electric Vehicle Chargers

Below is an official statement from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) regarding President Biden’s veto of legislation to block Chinese-made chargers for electric vehicles.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) led an effort to overturn a Biden Administration rule that would send American tax dollars to Chinese competitors by waiving the Buy America requirements for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. President Joe Biden vetoed the resolution.

The Senate attempted to override the President’s veto. However, the veto override to reach the two-thirds majority needed to advance.

  • “I was proud to lead this common-sense effort to prevent the Biden Administration from funneling American tax dollars to Chinese EV companies. It’s disappointing we didn’t have the votes to override this veto, but this isn’t the final word, and I hope we will have bipartisan support to claw these funds back from Chinese companies in the very near future.” – Senator Rubio
