U.S. Rep. Scott Franklin, R-Fla., was named to the U.S. House Oversight and Reform Committee.
Franklin, who is wrapping up his first month in Congress, weighed in on his new assignment.
“The role of the Oversight and Reform Committee provides an important check and balance on the role and power of Washington,” said Franklin. “Serving on this committee will allow me to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government. Congressional oversight is an integral part of our Democracy, and I am honored to be part of this process.”
Franklin was also named to the U.S. House Armed Services Committee last week.
Franklin defeated U.S. Rep. Ross Spano, R-Fla., in the Republican primary last year and went onto win the seat in November. The new congressman represents parts of Hillsborough, Lake and Polk Counties in a district that leans to the GOP.
