Sen. Rubio’s Effort to Block Chinese-Made Electric Vehicle Chargers Passes House

Below is an official statement from the office of U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL):

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a joint resolution, led by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), to overturn the Biden Administration’s rule that would harm American industry by waiving Buy America requirements for Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. American companies have invested in this industry and should not be penalized. The joint resolution now heads to the President’s desk.

Rubio praised the House passage and encouraged President Joe Biden to sign the resolution into law.

  • “The Republican-led House continues taking common-sense steps to protect Americans and American ingenuity. There is absolutely no sane reason to funnel taxpayer dollars to Chinese companies.
  • “If the Biden Administration wants to spend billions of taxpayer dollars to buy electric vehicle charging stations, it should only benefit American workers and industries. President Biden should act in the interest of the American people, follow the bipartisan wishes of Congress, and stop favoring foreign industry.”  – Senator Rubio
