The National Weather Service has issued severe weather warnings throughout the state.
For the Tallahassee area NWS stated:”The first tonight into very early Tuesday as the warm front lifts north. Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes are possible. The second Tuesday morning into the afternoon, when the squall line moves through the area, with a greater threat for damaging/destructive winds and possibly a few strong tornadoes.”
For Orlando and Melbourne, NWS stated:
Southerly winds increase to 20-30 mph with gusts 35-45 mph in the late morning and afternoon ahead of the thunderstorms coming later in the day.
While these winds are forecast to diminish in the late afternoon, the arrival of storms will maintain a wind threat into the evening.
The potential for strong to severe thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening has increased. Severe thunderstorms will be capable of locally damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, and one or two potentially strong tornadoes.
For the Tampa area, NWS stated: In addition to the Gale Watch, a Coastal Flood Watch has been issued along the coast for Tuesday and Tuesday night. Coastal flooding may result in flooding of roads and buildings in low lying areas near the coastline. Never drive through flooded roads.
For the Miami area, NWS stated:
Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion will occur. For portions of Levy and Citrus counties, a worse case scenario is for water levels up to 4 feet above ground level. For coastal areas from Hernando county south through Sarasota, the worse case scenario is for water levels to be up to 3 feet above ground level.
