Shelia Cherfilus-McCormick Announces $15.4 Million for Broward County Railroad Safety

Last week, U.S. Rep. Shelia Cherfilus-McCormick, D-Fla., announced $15.4 million in federal funds is headed to Broward County for railroad safety.

The funds come through the Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program and are part of the Biden administration’s $1 trillion infrastructure efforts.

President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is saving lives,” said Cherfilus-McCormick. “This $15.4 million in funding will increase safety at Broward County railroad crossings and reduce deadly collisions that our communities have come to see too often. In Washington, I will remain a strong supporter of this project and fight every day to make sure that federal dollars come into FL-20.”

The funds are going to the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

“We’re so pleased to have Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick’s support in Washington and at home,” said Broward MPO Executive Director Gregory Stuart. “This grant will save lives and make our great region even better for millions who live here and visit.”
