Normally in the month of December, border crossing by illegals tends to be slower, but not this past December.
According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), December numbers show record came a record-breaking amount of border apprehensions with 276,000, the highest ever on record. This follows November’s highest, with nearly 250,000 border apprehensions.
Fox News Bill Melugin reported that December’s record broke the prior record set in September at 269,735.
“We are now at over 760,000 migrant encounters since October 1st, making the first quarter of fiscal year 2024 also the highest ever recorded. Thats a population size bigger than Seattle in just three months,’ said Melugin.
Expect the GOP to make the border crisis a top issue in 2024 as they point out the records breaking numbers happened when Biden took the White House in 2021.
Recent polling shows immigration and the border are surging to the front of the line among issues voters are most concerned about.
Among republicans, they rank border security as the top priority in 2024. More than half of Republican voters want border to be a top priority of GOP.
Around 63% of GOP voters were against more federal funding to aid states in crisis and building a wall along the U.S. Southern border received support at 46%, most of that support came from Republican voters compared to Democrats.
North Florida Congressman Aaron Bean tells Florida Daily that bills relating to border security will be a priority when Congress goes back in session.
While Democrats publicly make excuses about the border crisis, a recent Washington Post article said Democrats are seeing the border problem is getting real.
Because it’s an election year, some analysts believe the Biden White House will give into some of the border demands by the GOP.
