Canceled direct flights from Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) to:

The budget carrier, which filed for bankruptcy in November after potential mergers did not materialize, has cut 48 scheduled flights when comparing its February 2024 and February 2025 timetables.

Fort Lauderdale (FLL) was the hardest hit, losing 64 flights, while Miami International Airport (MIA) saw a decrease of 17 flights and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) lost 3. At FLL, Spirit eliminated direct routes to Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and reduced services from various South American and Caribbean destinations. Routes to Haiti were suspended due to civil unrest.

In Miami, Spirit transitioned five routes—Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, and Nashville—to seasonal service in 2024 and discontinued its Pittsburgh route. West Palm Beach lost its Boston route, but the Atlantic City route remains, and a New York route will relaunch in February. Spirit stated these adjustments are routine and unrelated to its Chapter 11 restructuring.

Overall, the airline cut over 5,000 flights for February 2025 compared to the previous year, reducing service from several Sun Belt markets. Tampa Bay International Airport lost 10 routes, including those to Atlanta and Philadelphia.

Nicole Aguiar, a Spirit spokesperson, noted that the airline routinely evaluates its network to focus on its strongest routes. Despite these cuts, Spirit added service between Los Angeles and new destinations, including Seattle, San Jose, and Reno, as well as increasing flights in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Rochester, and Fort Lauderdale.
