State Cabinet Officials Join Host Committee for GOP Convention in Jacksonville

The convention will be held from August 24 through August 27.

The convention will be held from August 24 through August 27.

The committee in charge of hosting the Republican National Convention in Jacksonville announced on Tuesday that three elected officials have joined it.

With the committee being announced last week, two elected officials holding statewide office will now serve as members of the hosting committee. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and state CFO Jimmy Patronis are now on it. Jacksonville City Council Member Leanna Maria Gutierrez Cumber is also now a member of the committee.

“Jacksonville is an incredibly special part of our state and we are thrilled to share it with a national and global audience,” said Moody on Tuesday.

“The more than $100 million impact this convention will have on Northeast Florida is a welcome boost for the economy and local businesses,” said Patronis.

“The opportunities this convention will bring to our small businesses and tourism industry will have immediate and long term impacts for the people of Jacksonville,” said Cumber.

The convention will be held from August 24 through August 27.
