The Jacksonville Jaguars’ Best Offensive Players in Franchise History

The Jacksonville Jaguars, established in 1995, have seen their share of ups and downs in the NFL. Over the years, they have showcased some remarkable offensive talent. Here’s a look at the five best offensive players in the team’s history.

Fred Taylor (Running Back)
Fred Taylor is undoubtedly one of the greatest offensive players in Jaguars history. Drafted ninth overall in 1998, Taylor quickly became the cornerstone of Jacksonville’s offense. Known for his exceptional speed, vision, and elusiveness, he amassed 11,271 rushing yards and 66 touchdowns during his career with the Jaguars. Taylor’s ability to break long runs and contribute to the passing game made him a dual-threat weapon. Despite being underrated nationally, his consistency and productivity earned him a spot in the Jaguars’ Ring of Honor.

Jimmy Smith (Wide Receiver)
A key component of Jacksonville’s high-powered offense in the late 1990s, Jimmy Smith is one of the NFL’s most productive wide receivers. Smith joined the Jaguars in 1995 after a brief stint with the Cowboys and quickly became quarterback Mark Brunell’s go-to target. Over his career with Jacksonville, Smith recorded 12,287 receiving yards and 67 touchdowns. His crisp route-running, reliable hands, and ability to make clutch plays helped lead the Jaguars to multiple playoff appearances.

Maurice Jones-Drew (Running Back)
Maurice Jones-Drew, also known as “MJD,” was an electrifying running back who spent eight seasons in Jacksonville. Despite his smaller stature (5’7″), Jones-Drew was a powerhouse, combining incredible strength with agility. He led the NFL in rushing yards in 2011 with 1,606 and consistently produced at an elite level. With 8,167 rushing yards and 68 total touchdowns for the Jaguars, MJD solidified himself as one of the franchise’s all-time greats.

Mark Brunell (Quarterback)
As the Jaguars’ first true franchise quarterback, Mark Brunell set the standard for leadership and performance under center. A dual-threat quarterback, Brunell threw for 25,698 yards and 144 touchdowns during his tenure with Jacksonville. He also contributed with his legs, rushing for 2,219 yards and 15 touchdowns. His connection with receivers like Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell helped the Jaguars achieve early playoff success, including two AFC Championship Game appearances.

Keenan McCardell (Wide Receiver)
Keenan McCardell played a vital role in the Jaguars’ offense during their formative years. Known for his precise route-running and ability to make contested catches, McCardell paired perfectly with Jimmy Smith to create one of the most dynamic receiving duos in NFL history. He recorded 499 receptions, 6,393 yards, and 30 touchdowns during his time in Jacksonville, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the team’s top playmakers.
