Trump’s Approval Numbers Doing Well But Inflation Concerns Persist Among Voters

The CBS News/YouGov poll of 2,175 U.S. adults finds that 53% of voters giving President Trump and 70% say his he keeping his campaign promises.

On the issues:

Illegal Immigration

• 59% support his deportation of illegal immigrants and 64% said sending U.S. troops to the U.S. Mexico border is the right move. On holding immigrants in large detention centers, voters had mixed views.

DOGE Commission and Elon Musk

GOP voters like what Musk is doing. On his role dealing with government waste, Republicans support him having some influence but not necessarily “a lot” of influence. Most Democrats said Musk should be reined in.

Government Spending

Huge support from Republicans who believe Trump is going down the right path of cutting waste and foreign aid spending.

Tariffs

Tariffs are a concern among voters. Most that were polled didn’t support the higher tariffs and believed it would raise prices on imported goods.

Foreign Policy

Trump gets good numbers on his approach to dealing with the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Inflation

Inflation was the top issue among voters in the CBS poll. Sixty-six percent said the President hasn’t shown the right amount of attention on lowering prices, and almost 50% of Republicans said the same. But most voters said they didn’t expect Trump’s policies to drop prices right away. CBS pollsters found that most voters believe it will take at least 6 months before that could happen

The poll shows overall, voters like what they see so far coming from the Trump White House with many admitting that Trump is doing more than what they were expecting.

CBS pollsters said voters described President Trump as “tough,” “energetic,” “focused,” and “effective” — and as doing what he’d promised during his campaign.
