The U.S. Department of Education announced grant recipients for the 2025 Charter Schools Program (CSP) Replication and Expansion of High-Quality Charter Schools Grants. In all, there are eight awards totaling more than $87 million to be awarded over the life of the grants. These grants will be used to replicate and expand high-performing charter schools across the country.
Currently, 8,150 charter schools serve more than 3.7 million public school students across 44 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
FY2025 grant recipients in Florida are:
AcadeMir Charter Schools (Miami, FL) aims to continue its legacy of excellence by opening five additional schools over the next five years. It will also expand eight of its existing high-quality charter schools.
SLAM Florida (Miami, FL) seeks to expand four existing charter schools, adding 3,927 high-quality student stations over five years, by implementing SLAM’s 6-12 model to fidelity.
Starlee Coleman, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, said, “We are thrilled to see the U.S. Department of Education continue to invest in the growth of high-quality public charter schools through the Charter Schools Program. These grants will empower schools with a proven track record to reach more students, particularly those who have historically lacked access to excellent public schools. At a time when families are seeking more public school options, this funding is a critical step in meeting that demand and ensuring every child can attend a school that works for them.”
