US Presidential Election Facts

Personal-finance website WalletHub released its Election Day 2024 information on past and present-day election history data.

Election Facts & History:

1952 was the first year when presidential campaign ads were running on TV.

1845 was when US Congress designated Tuesday following the 1st Monday in November as Election Day.

35% of eligible voters on 2024 Election Day will belong to a racial or ethnic minority group, making 2024’s electorate the most diverse in U.S. history.

14 States – Have new laws that could make it more difficult to vote this year (in addition to 36 states with voter ID requirements).

Eight States – Allow any voter to join a permanent absentee/mail ballot list.

Five candidates have won the popular vote and still lost the election: Hillary Clinton in 2016, Al Gore in 2000, Grover Cleveland in 1888 and 1876, Samuel Tilden in 1876, and Andrew Jackson in 1824.

Only two presidents have won 49 out of 50 states, Nixon in 72 and Reagan in 84.

Harris has raised over $1 billion for her campaign.

Trump has raised over $650 million for his campaign.
