Vern Buchanan Tests Positive for COVID-19 Despite Being Vaccinated

The congressman has been fully vaccinated since it was made available to him earlier this year.

On Monday, U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The congressman has been fully vaccinated since it was made available to him earlier this year. Buchanan was tested after experiencing very mild flu-like symptoms and is quarantining at home in accordance with CDC guidelines to ensure the health of his colleagues and staff.

“I look forward to returning to work as soon as possible,” said Buchanan. “In the meantime, this should serve as a reminder that although the vaccines provide a very high-degree of protection, we must remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19.”
