VP Kamala Harris Staff Had a 92% Turnover Rate

“Nobody seems to like working for Kamala Harris,” said Adam Andrzejewski, CEO of Open the Books (OTB).

OTB’s latest investigation found the over the last two years, the Office of Vice President under Kamala Harris had a staff turnover rate at 92%, and that was just in 2021. Out of 47 employees, only four employees remained employed.

“It’s a “revolving door, a staff exodus of key aides heading for the exits,” said Andrzejewski.

OTB also says over the past year, Harris has lost another 24 staffers in one year, “that’s half her payroll in one year,” said the report!

Getting the information was a challenge. Two years ago, OTB filed a Freedom of Information Act request and the VP’s office rejected it, claiming exemption from federal sunshine laws.

But OTB said with Harris as vice president, she is also the president of the U.S. Senate, and OTB found her payroll disclosed through the Senate disclosures.

Here’s the breakdown OTB used:

OTB took Harris’ payroll headcounts from 2021, compared those payrolls against the most recent disclosures from March 2024, and found that she turned over every significant leadership/executive position on her staff. OTB also looked at quotes from Harris’ staffers during interviews with the national media.

Staff turnovers compared to Trump and other Presidents:

OTB found that Harris’s (92%) numbers are far worse than Trump or even Biden. Using the same whole staff methodology, the Trump turnover was 72%; Biden was 77%.

Lat year in October 2023, the Atlantic magazine called her office management “top-to-bottom dysfunction.” Previously, Axios had reported that staffers exited driven by “burnout and apprehension to being labeled a ‘Harris person.’

Andrzejewski says Harris’s office seems to be an abject chaos with no loyalty.

“If a small business had a high turnover rate of 92%, you would either say, there was something wrong with the employees, here it looks like something wrong with the person (Harris) in charge.”
