Rick Scott Endorsed by Florida Police Chiefs Association

On Monday, the Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA) endorsed U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., as he runs for a second term in the U.S. Senate.

“On behalf of the Florida Police Chiefs Association, we are honored to endorse Senator Rick Scott for reelection to the United States Senate,” said FPCA President Charles “Chuck” Broadway. “Senator Scott has always made public safety a top priority, and he knows that supporting the brave men and women in blue who put their lives at risk every day is the first step to keeping Florida’s communities safe.

“The Florida Police Chiefs Association knows Senator Scott has law enforcement’s back, and now we’re proud to have his. We look forward to continuing our work with him on behalf of the people of Florida,” Broadway added.

Scott welcomed the group’s endorsement.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement from the Florida Police Chiefs Association. This group is critical to our state and they care deeply about providing all Floridians with the opportunity to live safely. Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies have wreaked havoc on states like New York and California and we cannot ever let Florida go down that path. I’m going to keep fighting for Florida law enforcement up in Washington so they have the tools they need to do their job,” said Scott.

Concluded Broadway, “The Florida Police Chiefs Association knows Senator Scott has law enforcement’s back, and now we’re proud to have his. We look forward to continuing our work with him on behalf of the people of Florida.”

The FPCA represents more than 1,300 law enforcement leaders across the Sunshine State.

Former U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, D-Fla., entered the race last month and she is the current favorite to win the Democratic nomination. She faces Phil Ehr, a former Navy officer who twice ran against U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., in the Democratic primary. Other candidates in the Democratic primary include former U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., former state Rep. Brian Rush and a field of minor candidates. Among the possible Democratic candidates is Brevard County School Board Member Jennifer Jenkins.
