Associated Industries of Florida Releases 2022 Legislative Priorities

On Thursday, the Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) released its 2022 Session Priorities publication, which outlines its legislative agenda on behalf of its members for the 2022 Florida Legislative Session.

To deal with various issues during the session, which started on Tuesday, AIF has set up policy councils and committees, including Environmental Sustainability & Agriculture Council; Florida Energy Council & Mineral Rights Working Group; Financial Services Council; Transportation & Maritime Council; IT Council; Manufacturing, Aerospace & Defense Council; Health Care Task Force; Taxation Committee; Workers’ Compensation Coalition; and H2O Coalition.

“As we kick off the 2022 Legislative Session this week, I could not be prouder to start my tenure at the helm of AIF in a state that has been laser-focused on remaining open for business and recruiting new employers to our state,” said AIF President and CEO Brewster Bevis. “With 60 days of policy discussions now underway, we look forward to advocating for our members to be able to live, work and flourish in a state that truly believes in free enterprise. We are proud of our long history of legislative advocacy and success on behalf of Florida’s businesses and are ready to continue to work to generate a strong economic engine for our great state.”

Bevis had kind words for Gov. Ron DeSantis’ $99.7 billion budget proposal for FY 2022-23.

“The budget Governor DeSantis has put forth, which includes a significant gas tax holiday that will save hardworking Florida families and businesses over $1 billion, furthers his commitment to fostering freedom and prosperity in our state,” said Bevis. “We commend Governor DeSantis and the Legislature for ensuring Florida’s economy continues to thrive and for creating a brighter future for all Floridians.”

The publication is distributed to all 160 members of the Florida Legislature, the Florida Cabinet and Agency Secretaries, as well as AIF membership.
