A poll released by the Wall Street Journal finds that a potential 2024 rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump is tied.
The poll shows voters were split between Biden and Trump with each candidate getting 45 percent when voters were asked who they would vote for in 2024.
Several polls over the last several months have shown voters aren’t interested in a rematch between Biden and Trump for the 2024 election.
“These polls are entertaining but it’s way too early,” said Jamie Miller, a media strategist who specializes on Florida. “First let’s see what happens in the 2022 midterms.”
Miller referenced endorsements from Trump in Republican primaries. However, some of Trump’s endorsements aren’t benefiting his candidates.
A high-profile race where the former president is involved is in Georgia where incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp is being challenged by former U.S. Sen. David Purdue, R-Ga., who has Trump’s endorsement.
In a recent Fox News poll, Trump’s support isn’t helping Purdue against Kemp.
The poll shows Kemp leading Perdue by 11 points, 50 percent to 39 percent with 10 percent not sure.
In the run-up to the 2024 Republican presidential primaries, Trump is trailing in Florida to Gov. Ron DeSantis. A recent University of North Florida (UNF) poll showed DeSantis leading Trump in a Florida Republican primary 44 percent to 41 percent.
Last month, The Hill reported that Texas Republicans remained split on whether Trump’s endorsement would sway them to vote for a candidate.
Almost half–49 percent–of Texas Republican primary voters say they are more likely to support a candidate if they have Trump’s endorsement.
But 35 percent say Trump’s endorsement has no impact on them while another 16 percent say it makes them less likely to support a candidate.
