Aaron Bean Marks Groundbreaking for Cathedral Oaks Parkway to Connect Green Cove Springs, Middleburg

Last week, U.S. Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Fla, helped launch the construction of the Cathedral Oaks Parkway.

“The groundbreaking marked a significant milestone towards seamlessly connecting the communities of Green Cove Springs and Middleburg, as well as ensuring our society remains mobile for decades to come,” Bean’s office noted.

Bean weighed in on Thursday after the groundbreaking.

”“Today is a great day for Clay County. The Cathedral Oaks Parkway is a huge step towards elevating our transportation network and, along with the infrastructure investments happening across the county, will ensure that our Florida businesses and commuters have the infrastructure they need to compete, grow, and thrive,” Bean said.

“Our roads, bridges, and expressways are not liabilities, but assets. That’s why I was proud to work with the Army Corps of Engineers to move the required permit through the application process, so Clay County can remain in the fast lane. The addition of this parkway to Florida’s transportation network will spur economic growth, provide hundreds of good paying jobs, and support our vibrant way of life,” Bean added.

Bean’s office offered some of the details of the project.

“This 3.3-mile, two-lane road project will link the First Coast Expressway to the intersection of County Road 315 and Maryland Avenue. This state-of-the-art roadway will include a grass median, bike lanes, and pedestrian walkways. Completion of the Cathedral Oak Parkway is expected in early 2025,” Bean’s office noted.
