Trump The Border, China and Latin America

Brian Winter, Editor-in-chief of American Quarterly asked Trujillo all about a possible Trump presidency and its effect on trade and economic engagement with South America.

Former Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) and President of Continental Strategy Carlos Trujillo was interviewed for the American Quarterly Podcast  last week. The title of the podcast is “What Trump Would Mean for Latin America Policy,” and Brian Winter, Editor-in-chief of American Quarterly asked Trujillo all about a possible Trump presidency and its effect on trade and economic engagement with South America.

During the podcast, Trujillo said, “Do we want to be a country that provides aid or provides opportunities?” Trujillo said the US needs to stop explaining why China is the wrong trading partner, but instead why we are the right one.

He discussed how the Biden Administration’s empty words have failed Americans when it comes to fentanyl and the border crisis. Trujillo reiterated that the Biden Administration removed legislation such as “Third Country Safe” set in place by President Trump that is responsible for some of the US’s challenges. Trujillo gave a unique perspective given his experience as an Ambassador for Trump regarding what we could look forward to with another possible Trump Presidency.
