Orlando Metro Area Has Highest Number of Home Foreclosures Among US Metro Areas of at Least 1 Million Housing Units

Home foreclosures on Orlando-area homes increased in February, with 808 homes going through the legal process. According to the Orlando Business Journal’s report, the Orlando Metro Area now has the highest number of home foreclosures in the U.S. among metro areas with at least 1 million housing units. The uptick has been happening since the federal moratorium on foreclosures ended in July 2021.

According to a report released by the National Low Income Housing Coalition, Orlando has the unfortunate distinction of having the fourth-highest deficit of affordable housing in the United States.

There have been some positive economic figures in other recent housing data, including an Orlando Regional Realtor Association report that  home sales increased increased 26% in February, but are still below the prior year’s sales.
