Florida Realtors® Launches Vote Yes on 3 Campaign to Deliver Property Tax Relief to Florida Homeowners

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Sept. 9, 2026 — Florida Realtors®, the state’s largest professional trade association, today announced the launch of its Vote Yes on 3 campaign, urging Floridians to approve Amendment 3 on the November 2026 ballot and provide meaningful property tax relief to homeowners across the state.

The campaign comes as Florida families continue to face rising costs for housing, insurance, groceries, utilities and other necessities. Florida Realtors® says the cost of owning a home does not end with the sale and that making homeownership attainable also means helping Floridians afford to keep the homes they already own.

“Affordability is on the forefront for every Floridian, and they need meaningful relief,” said Chuck Bonfiglio Jr., 2026 president of Florida Realtors®. “We’ve spent years working to help people buy homes. But buying the home is only half the challenge. We also need to make sure families can afford to keep the homes they worked so hard to purchase.”

Amendment 3 would increase Florida’s homestead exemption for non-school property taxes from its current level to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028, with annual adjustments for inflation beginning in 2029. The additional exemption would not apply to school district property taxes.

Amendment 3 would also lower the cap on annual property-tax assessment increases for non-homestead property, including rental and commercial property, from 10% to 5%. More predictable property taxes create greater stability for property owners, and for the tenants, businesses and customers who depend on them.

“Floridians need a change,” Bonfiglio said. “This is an opportunity to provide meaningful relief now, while continuing the broader conversation around property taxes.”

Amendment 3 must receive support from at least 60% of voters to become part of the Florida Constitution. If approved, the amendment would take effect Jan. 1, 2027.
