The University of Florida’s football program has a proud history of bowl game success, including three National Championships. Below are five of the biggest bowl game victories in the history of the Florida Gators.
1997 Sugar Bowl
In a rematch vs. UF’s arch-rival Florida State, the Gators avenged their regular season finale loss against the Seminoles with a 52-20 blowout win at the New Orleans Superdome. Heisman trophy winner Danny Wuerffel finished the game with 306 yards and three touchdowns en route to the Gators first national championship in the program’s history.

2007 BCS National Championship:
With two elite quarterbacks in senior Chris Leak and sophmore Tim Tebow, the Gators routed the Ohio State Buckeyes in a 41-14 victory in Glendale, Arizona.
The 2009 BCS National Championship
Senior quarterback Tim Tebow threw two touchdown passes and Percy Harvin added a touchdown as the Gators prevailed against the Oklahoma Sooners by a final score 24–14 in front of a record-size crowd in Miami.
1967 Orange Bowl
The Gators defeated Georgia Tech, 27-12 for first Orange Bowl win in program history. Larry Smith, Florida’s running back, was named MVP after rushing for 187 yards, including a 94-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
2002 Orange Bowl
In Steve Spurrier’s final game as the Gators head coach, Florida shellacked the Maryland Terrapins, winning by a final score of 56-23.
