UCF Lands $50 Million Alumni Pledge to Boost Research, Scholarships, and Growth

The University of Central Florida (UCF) has received a transformative $50 million pledge from a prominent alumnus, marking one of the largest private gifts in the university’s history. School officials announced the donation this week, calling it a major investment in UCF’s long-term growth as one of the nation’s largest public universities. The identity of the donor was not immediately disclosed, but university leaders said the gift reflects strong alumni confidence in UCF’s direction and impact.

According to university officials, the pledge will support a range of strategic priorities, including academic program expansion, student scholarships, and research initiatives. A significant portion of the funding is expected to be directed toward high-demand fields such as engineering, healthcare, and emerging technologies—areas where UCF has been working to expand its footprint to meet workforce needs across Central Florida and beyond.

UCF President Alexander N. Cartwright said the gift represents a milestone moment for the institution. In a statement, Cartwright emphasized that philanthropic support of this magnitude allows the university to accelerate innovation, improve student access, and strengthen its role as an economic driver in the region. He added that the donation will help position UCF to compete with top-tier research universities nationwide.

The pledge comes as UCF continues to see rapid enrollment growth and rising national recognition. University leaders say the funding will not only enhance campus resources but also create new opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. As one of Florida’s largest universities, UCF has increasingly relied on public-private partnerships and donor contributions to fuel its expansion—and officials say this latest gift could have a lasting impact for generations of Knights to come.
