Florida Congressman Honored for Work on Agriculture

Now in his second term in Congress, U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn’s, R-Fla., efforts on agriculture are starting to get him some notice.

Dunn, who sits on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, was honored last week by the American Farm Bureau Federation with its “Friend of Farm Bureau” award.

“The American Farm Bureau Federation gives the Friend of Farm Bureau award to members of Congress who have supported Farm Bureau’s position on policy issues, as demonstrated by their voting records, and who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureaus and approved by the AFBF Board of Directors,” said Dale Moore, the vice president of public affairs for the  American Farm Bureau Federation.

Dunn weighed in last week on the importance of agriculture to his North Florida district.

“The American Farm Bureau Federation works hard to represent farmers across this country and ensure that their voices are heard in Washington. I am honored to receive this award for my work on the House Agriculture Committee fighting for Florida farmers. The agriculture industry is vital to the economy in North Florida and is home to extensive row crops, peanuts, cotton, cattle, dairy, poultry and some of the most productive forests in the nation. I look forward to continuing to fight for our farmers, ranchers, and foresters in the 116th Congress,” said Dunn.

Despite being in his second term, Dunn is starting to move up the ranks on the Agriculture Committee. He currently leads Republicans on the U.S. House Biotechnology, Horticulture and Research Subcommittee.

Dunn represents all of Bay, Calhoun, Dixie, Franklin, Gilchrist, Gulf, Jackson, Lafayette, Levy, Liberty, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla and Washington Counties, and parts of Columbia, Holmes, Jefferson, Leon and Marion Counties. The district is solidly Republican.
