A Preview of Florida Congressman Mike Waltz’s Book: ‘HARD TRUTHS: Think and Lead Like a Green Beret’

Conservative Congressman Mike Waltz’s new book, “HARD TRUTHS: Think and Lead Like a Green Beret,” will be released on October 22.

Waltz has represented the Northeast Florida Congressional District 6 since 2018. He was the first Green Beret to be elected to Congress. Before being elected to the House, Waltz was a security advisor for the White House and the Pentagon. In his new book, Waltz recounts the horrors of war he experienced but says that it shaped the mindset he honed in military service and can help anyone conquer everyday challenges―in politics, in business, or in life

“The book teaches Green Beret principles and how to deal with conflict resolution and emphasize the importance of discipline and self-control” Waltz said. “Determination, persistence, and bold leadership are all key elements of this book,” said the Congressman.

As a Trump surrogate, Waltz is a frequent guest on Fox News. He has talked about the failure of the Afghanistan withdrawal under President Joe Biden and his concerns for military don’t just include national security, but the politicization of the ranks with DEI initiatives/erosion of merit.

If Trump wins the 2024 election, Rep.  Waltz’s name has been mentioned for a possible cabinet position like the Department of Defense.

Conservative groups have given Waltz high marks on his voting record. The Heritage Foundation says the average score among GOP congressional members is 73%, but they point out that the Congressman’s lifetime score is 90%.

Besides being a congressman and a Green Beret, Waltz graduated from Virginia Military Institute, has served over 25 years in the U.S. Army, and is presently serving in the National Guard. After being commissioned as an Army lieutenant, Congressman Waltz graduated Ranger School and was then selected for the elite Green Berets, serving worldwide as a decorated Special Forces officer with multiple combat tours in Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa.

For his actions in combat, he was awarded four Bronze Stars and two with valor. Waltz is married to Dr. Julia Nesheiwat, also a combat veteran who served as the US State Department’s hostage envoy, and is the father of two wonderful children, Anderson and Armie. They live in St. Augustine, FL.
