Gas prices continue to fall in Florida with Sunday seeing the lowest average price at the pump for the year, a new report shows.
The average gallon of gas in Florida cost $3.00 on Sunday, down from $3.15 at the start of last week and below the national average of $3.16 a gallon.
“Oil and gasoline futures prices plummeted last week, after a weekly fuel report showed strong refinery activity, leading to big gains in gasoline supplies,” said Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA and the Auto Club Group. “About 35 percent of Florida gas stations now have fuel below $3 a gallon. Nearly 10 percent of retailers have prices in the low $2.70s. While prices could bounce around in the coming weeks, drivers should expect pump prices to remain low through the holidays unless oil prices suddenly spike.”
The West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area the had most expensive gas in the state with an average of $3.21 a gallon followed by Naples at $3.13 a gallon and Sebring at $3.09 a gallon.
The Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area had the least expensive gas in the state with an average of $2.83 a gallon followed by Pensacola at Panama City which both saw an average of $2.85 a gallon.
