Amazon has started hiring for over 1,000 positions at its newly constructed fulfillment center in Daytona Beach, which is set to launch operations soon.
The Seattle-based e-commerce giant announced the $200 million project in 2022. The facility, covering approximately 630,000 square feet, is located at the southeast corner of South Williamson Boulevard and Bellevue Avenue. Starting pay for positions begins at $19 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
According to the Orlando Business Journal and Amazon spokesperson Greg Rios, hiring for new facilities typically commences one to two months before the official start of operations.
The Daytona Beach site will serve as a robotics fulfillment center, where employees will work alongside advanced automation to pick, pack, and ship customer orders. These centers are part of Amazon’s “first mile” network, which is the initial stage of the supply chain before packages are routed to intermediate hubs and ultimately delivered to customers.
“At robotics fulfillment centers, employees utilize Amazon robotics and advanced technologies, which enable them to develop new skills and enhance the efficiency and safety of the fulfillment process,” Rios stated.
This facility is part of Amazon’s broader investment in Florida, which totals $38 billion since the company began operating in the state. As of January 2024, Amazon reports having created over 52,000 jobs in Florida.
